September Rod Runs

The Rod Runs of September are upon us! Pigeon Forge is famous at this entrance point of the autumn season for hosting large scale Rod Runs throughout the city. Parading down the streets and hanging out in the parking lots, adding immense color to the city, will be hundreds of hot rods from the start of the Spur connecting to Gatlinburg all the way down to Walden's Landing (or beyond)

There are two major Rod Runs coming up for September (three total for the year, the other being the Grand Spring Rod Run in April) The Shades of the Past Grand Rod Run XXVIII and the Grand Fall Rod Run. Both are convention-style events, meaning you'll see booths and merchandise all along the sidewalks along with the insane cars you're going to see. It also means you're going to want to find a parking spot anywhere you can (legally) and call it good, because traffic will be at a virtual stand still during the Rod Runs.

And thats where Cove Mountain comes into play. Cove Mountain is only a short 10-15 minute drive to Pigeon Forge and most of the traffic will not be coming back through, meaning you'll still get the peace and quiet you came to the mountains for. It'll be incredible to go out for a full Rod Run day and then come back to a well-deserved rest at Cove Mountain Resorts!

Shades of the Past is September 10th-11th and the Grand Fall Rod Run is September 16th-19th. Make your reservations today because every parking spot in Pigeon Forge, every single one, will fill up quickly. Call today!

August's Last Thrill

It's August now, so the mood is more of the preparations for the year to come and not on splashing around the pool or biking through the hills. School starts earlier than ever before and everyone's mind and money are on books and stationary of every color of the rainbow.

But before you bid the summer its annual farewell, consider how easy it would be for one last Aestival romp through the mountains here at Cove Mountain Resorts. Our location in Wears Valley puts you at a more scenic location of the Great Smokies with less incorporation and less driving hassle, not to mention our myriad of amenities onsite.

Wears Valley is the midpoint between Pigeon Forge and Townsend. It's roughly 10-12 minutes each way, with downtown Pigeon Forge between 15-18 minutes. Wears Valley itself features a handful of genuinely interesting shops and great southern restaurants plus a farmer's market. Pigeon Forge offers so many things, you'd need to go to www.mypigeonforge.com for all they offer while Townsend is for the nature lovers. Townsend's much, much quieter setting offers the famous "Wye" river for swimming, picnicking and tubing and Cades Cove, one of the most visited and highly respected sections of the Great Smoky Mountains national park.

Yes, summer is fading, but there's always time for one more trip before school and Cove Mountain Resorts sits happily in the middle of several choices to choose from! Be it Pigeon Forge or Townsend or right here in Wears Valley, Cove Mountain is your home in the Smokies! We look forward to seeing you!
