Thanksgiving Weekend 2012

Gatlinburg will be celebrating the Thanksgiving Season as the city traditionally does - with three special events going on at the same time, under the same roof at W.L. Mills Auditorium near Ripley's Haunted Adventure.

From 11/20/12 to 11/24/12, the Gatlinburg Festival of Trees will be the first event to take place at W.L. Mills and its also an excellent introduction to the coming Christmas season. This is a charity event sponsored by Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries and features dozens of exquisitely made Christmas trees to make a man-made Yuletide forest in the great convention center. All proceeds go to the ministry efforts of Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries.

Then, from 11/21/12 to 11/25/12, the Great Smoky Mountains Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts Show will be held on the other side of the convention center. With 100+ booths and artists both local and from Virginia, Ohio, Georgia and way beyond, there is a wide berth of arts and crafts available - from candles, baskets and wood works to rock works, paintings, clothes and more.

Finally, on the nights of 11/23/12 and 11/24/12, the Great Smoky Mountain Dance Theatre will perform two shows of the Nutcracker "Sweet", which means that on 11/23/12 and 11/24/12, you could enjoy three amazing holiday special events on the same day under the same roof! If you are your family are looking for something amazing to start the holiday season, here it is!

Gatlinburg is less than a day-trip distance away from our Cove Mountain houses and it will be worth the drive! Autumn in the Smokies 2012

This is the month we've been waiting for since Autumn of last year - October is the prime of the Fall season where we see the full color bloom, and those of you who are looking to come to the Smokies to see it need to make reservations quite soon, as they tend to fill up quickly during this time of the year!

Also worth noting, just down the road from us, the Wears Valley Chamber of Commerce will be having their 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Harvest Festival Celebration and this year will be the biggest yet - with more arts and crafts, more food vendors, a children's fun area, special guests including Bill Landry of The Heartland Series performers from SkyDive East Tennessee, and, last but by far least, the "Stars of the Smokies" talent competition where local singer-songwriters will compete for $4,000 worth of prizes. Oktoberfest has quickly become a major Autumn treat for Wears Valley and we want to invite you to it!

Labor Day Weekend 2012

Labor Day weekend is coming up this next weekend, so if you're wanting to take a trip into the mountains, now is the time to start planning!

The area is actually light on special events for Labor Day weekend, but this is to give our visitors more of a chance to enjoy the attractions and entertainment that's already here. There are several sidewalk sales at shopping centers around the city - Christmas Village, Pigeon Forge Crossing and Tanger Outlet will all be having outdoor sales throughout the weekend.

Sidewalk entertainment has a special place for Labor Day it seems, and bringing the family to the many little fun centers downtown - like Fast Tracks, Rockin' Raceway, Star Tracks, 3 Bears General Store and more! Comedy Barn, Lumberjack Feud and many other theater shows are also on the main sidewalks in the city and well worth the ticket purchases.

Finally, add a luxury house for your family needs and it won't just be the icing on the cake, it will be the start of a brand new tradition for the start of Fall. See our houses at www.covemountain.com.
